Last Friday, November 22nd, a group of us from Bassaleg School—three Sixth Formers, four other pupils, and two teachers—had the privilege of visiting the enchanting Clearwell Farm. This trip wasn’t just any outing; it was an extraordinary opportunity to select our school’s Christmas tree for the school, an experience we’ll treasure for years to come.
Upon arriving, we were warmly welcomed and given a tour of the farm. Clearwell Farm is truly magical, with row upon row of vibrant, perfectly shaped Christmas trees stretching as far as the eye could see. Each tree seemed more spectacular than the last! It was no easy task to choose, but after much deliberation, we found the perfect one: a magnificent 10ft tree that will soon stand tall and proud in our school, bringing festive cheer to everyone.
Mrs. J. Wheatley, one of our accompanying teachers, summed up the experience beautifully:
"A huge thanks to Clearwell Farm for their incredibly generous donation of a Christmas Tree for Bassaleg this year! We're so excited to visit the farm next week to pick out the tree with help from our Eco and Leadership Council for the second year in a row."
After securing our tree, the warmth and generosity of Clearwell Farm didn’t end there. We gathered in a cozy barn, where we were treated to delicious, fresh hot cocoa (prepared by the farm’s staff) and a hearty lunch. It was a perfect way to reflect on our afternoon while soaking up the festive atmosphere.
This trip was much more than a chance to bring a stunning Christmas tree back to Bassaleg; it was a reminder of the kindness and community spirit that the holiday season represents. A heartfelt thank you to Clearwell Farm for their donation and for hosting us so warmly—it truly was an honour and a pleasure.
We can’t wait to see the tree lit up in all its glory in our school resturant! 🌟
