Bassaleg Careers Fayre Thursday 6th March

Mr Justin Clayton-Jones

Assistant Head, Community and Pathways

We held our annual Careers Fayre on Thursday 6th March and, I think it’s fair to say, that this year’s event was bigger and better than ever with 41 employers in attendance. We are really proud of these fayres over the past few years and it’s great to see how they have evolved into  really corporate, professional events which give our pupils a really authentic, real world experience and a chance to actively consider their possible future pathways.

Pupils from Years 8, 11 and 6th Form were invited and it was great to see them attend in large numbers with their parents. Pupils made really effective use of our Careers Fayre booklets in which they had prepared questions in advance to ask employers. Our visiting companies were full of praise for our Bassaleg pupils telling us that they were highly engaged and asked really insightful questions. We are very fortunate to have had very influential assistance in getting such a wide range of local and national employers to come along and this was due, in no small part, to our Chair of Governors, Mr Andrew Evans who was in attendance with his company KLA.

A big thank you to Mr Bernie Ramsay, Mrs Josie Wheatley and Mrs Sue Hall for all of their efforts in making this event such an outstanding success.

Thank you to all our pupils and their parents for attending what was a hugely enjoyable and informative evening.
