English Department Hosts Successful Scholastic Book Fair!

Updated: Nov 13

The English Department recently held a Scholastic Book Fair, which ran from Friday, 11th October, to Tuesday, 22nd October. This event gave pupils the opportunity to explore a wide selection of books, fostering their love for reading in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

We extend a special thanks to the Music and Drama Department for kindly lending us their recital room for the fair. Their support was instrumental in creating a welcoming space for our pupils to browse and review the books during lunch breaks.

We are thrilled to announce that collectively nearly £300 worth of books were purchased! This has not only provided pupils with exciting new reads but has also helped us secure some free books for school, enriching our collection here at Bassaleg School.

As part of the fair, we also ran a competition where pupils had the chance to win free book tokens. Congratulations to Freya, who secured her prize by creating a wonderful poster explaining why Lilo and Stitch are her favourite characters.

Pupils received their purchased books this week, just in time for some weekend reading. This fair has already sparked enthusiasm among pupils and staff alike, as we begin to prepare for the next big literary celebration—World Book Day on Thursday, 6th March 2025!

Watch this space for more exciting updates as we gear up for more literary adventures!
