Marking the beginning of a promising tradition, the recent Iftar event was a heartwarming celebration of our Muslim community here in Bassaleg School. The overwhelming support from staff, students, and parents enabled a fantastic evening to unfold with touching speeches from Miss Lambe and Mr Batten, which emphasised the importance of appreciating what we have: a fundamental aspect of Ramadan.
A particularly heartwarming moment was when two students recited a beautifully composed poem, capturing the essence of Ramadan and its deep spiritual meaning. The event not only celebrated the importance of the core values of Ramadan but also the various cultures which take part in Ramadan. As the event unfolded, the aroma of delicious food wafted through the air, and everyone gathered to break their fast with a date and water per tradition.
After completion of the Maghrib prayer led by a student, everyone dug into homemade biryani, Welsh cakes, brownies, samosas and more. The perfect end to the first of many fantastic Iftar events.
