On Friday, 29th November, our Leadership Council had an incredible insight into the Principality Building Society's Network groups that act similarly to our councils in school, in a meeting led by Amy Maidment from Principality. It was inspiring to find that what we are trying to implement in school with our Councils is also happening directly in the workplace, yet another reason as to why we would love as many pupils as possible on board to get a taste of what it could be like.
In the Principality Building Society, their main seven Networks provide an 'open and honest forum for discussion', exactly like we are trying to establish and develop in school. They have groups such as Planet Friendly, Mental Health Advocates, Pride Network and Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage, as well as many more support groups where each accommodates a chosen area of interest that would greatly help other employees.
It was lovely to find that so many of their Networks were so similar to our Councils, opening up the opportunity for collaboration in the future. We are hoping to have mentors from each Network to guide our Councils in school to help them improve and flourish, precisely as it has in the workplace. In fact, we already have resources from Principality for members from our Behaviour for Learning Council to attend an Anti-Bullying seminar along with some Networks, and we are so excited to hear their experience from it!
Moreover, as a Leadership Council, we received lots of very beneficial advice that we are looking to embed in our work in the future, including collaborating with other Councils in school and potentially creating newsletters to promote all the amazing work each of the Councils are doing. We cannot wait to continue to work with the Principality Building Society to learn as many new ways as possible to promote and communicate with our Councils in school. It is a privilege to be able to share all the wonderful work that the Councils are completing in school; with help from the Principality Building Society, the opportunities to do this will only grow.
We are so grateful to have this opportunity to work directly with the Principality Building Society and their Networks after meeting with Amy, it will be so exciting to work with them in the future!
