On Tuesday 18th February, Will and I went to Ysgol Gyfun Gwent Is Coed to attend the second meeting of the Newport Grand Council. During the day, we attended three workshops and took part in two other activities.
We started with a Q&A session with Newport Councillor Batrouni, during which he answered some questions about his plan to make Newport a better place for young people. After the questions, we had a quick quiz to warm our brains up for the rest of the day.
A delicious lunch was to come next, and following this, we attended three workshops on a carousel. We started with a session about the importance of school attendance, then Newport Live asked us what opportunities there are for sport and leisure in our community. Finally, the GEMS team ran a very engaging session about the power of language and why languages are so important.
It was a great day; we both really enjoyed the event and are looking forward to the next meeting!
