Congratulations to our team of over 20 silver participants who embarked on their expedition adventures this term. With a very hot practice expedition in Bannau Brycheiniog they demonstrated their resilience, water carrying skills and honed their navigation.
After the initial practise the team did some excellent evaluating of the skills they had and how to contribute to expedition life- with some realising they were excellent bag packers or camping cooks and others there to lift team spirits with a DofE song.
Before setting out on a qualifying expedition to the Wye Valley groups looked at First Aid and Emergency Procedures using their acting skills to test out scenarios. Over their three day expedition pupils impressed us with their ability to be self-sufficient- not only navigating themselves successfully but camping, cooking and keeping each other smiling. A highlight was the walk across the rope bridge into camp and then the camp fire and chat after a very long 20km hike on day two.
Although there were a few blisters, a few scenic turns and inevitable tiredness we couldn’t be prouder of the way they developed into confident teams who completed the challenge with a smile on their face!
Well done on such an amazing achievement.
